Criminalization out of Control

This is just too funny. This quote is from a great article from Cato that you really should read.
"A bill to prevent the transportation of horses for human consumption has 80 co-sponsors in Congress. If signed into law, it would join such illustrious federal crimes as the interstate transport of water hyacinths, trafficking in unlicensed dentures and misappropriating the likeness of Woodsy Owl and his associated slogan, "Give a hoot, don't pollute" (punishable by up to six months in prison)."

Jason, there is at least one thing in your 'illustrative' list that is a serious problem: The invasive nature of water hyacinth. When introduced here in the Delta area of Central California, it has clogged waterways, eliminated oxygen levels for fish and other waterlife, and presents few ways to get rid of it. It's not something you want in your local lakes or rivers wherever you live. It's beautiful stuff, but grows like a cancer.
